Summer at Hell's Mouth this year was a breeze. It was too, we had 5 weeks of sunshine and cloud and only a couple of days of rain, when most of the south of Britain was apparantly grey and wet. Well back in t he Forest of Dean it was anyway.
As usual we sold all our boards with the Retro Carve leading the way and met all our friends from past years. Dave "Turtle" Ward and Donny skated the new tarmac hill, with Katie filming. Donny got two classic solo offshore days to head high at "Shops" and Katie nearly got barrelled on the boogie board. The star of the young skating scene has to be Jack Chamberlain who really rips on the retro carve and has built up a great repertoire of moves which will be finding their way onto film. The Still Stoked Story DVD went well as did Longwave and the new DVD of A New Wave Rising.
What had to be the greatest of experiences of all our years at the Mouth was a treat of dolphin sightings at Porth Ysgo one calm afternoon when groups of dolphins were surfacing all over the place for ages.
Now back in the Forest of Dean it seems pretty crazy that here we are on the 'eve' of 10 years of the Bore Riders Club and those epic bores of the autumn of 1997.
A celebration for me has to be Katie and I about to move back to the "workshop" of LittleDean Hall where it all started with Still Stoked and the Bore Riders Club. I've just been checking out Matt "Buffalo" Hammersleys words on the latest Bore surfing Forums and it is pretty gratifying that those words I wrote back in 1997 have been picked up on Still Stoked's Travel Stories at the end of Extract 3 The Other Side of Life.
