Still Stoked Longboard Skates For Surfers

The Brighton Paddle Round the

It might not have been the best sales in the world but, man, didn't we have a great time at the Paddle last weekend. We've met loads of guys and girls and made some excellent contacts. These include a re-introduction to Gavin at Surrey Skateboards; we'll be giving his Holey Trucks a go over the summer in the hope they'll be a new set up for our boards. We also met the guys at the Brighton Longboard club and are hoping to join forces to do a special Brighton Board for the club - we'll keep you posted. There should be some pics from the event coming soon.

The sun shone down pretty much all the time and the rain kept away. The races all went off well and Elliot Dudley stormed the 20 mile Brighton to Worthing and back stand up paddle race. The skating event this year was the slalom contest which had some serious contention going on amongst the hardcore group of slalom hotties. Stig Evans from the Brighton Longboarders was on good form and Donny had a great time talking boards and skating the Brighton seaside proms in the evenings and hooking up with some of the local skaters.

Brighton is where the Landsurfer was first tested back in 1997 and is just the hottest place for longboard skating which is slowly but surely coming of age. The place is so full of good skating and sliding spots and is simply the place to go to skate. Whether you are into cruising, sliding, slalom or hills Brighton has it all. The best find has to be the cycle track at the velodrome near Preston Manor. This holds awesome promise for both chilled longboarding and more radical manouevres.

On Friday 10th July, as in tomorrow, there is a longboard meet organised by Nick Bradley and his mates, down on the promenade by the old pier, which should be well worth checking out as these guys are building up a good repertoire of longboard skills.
